Superpedestrian Raises $2.1M in Series A Funding

Superpedestrian, Cambridge, Mass.-based developer of the Copenhagen Wheel bike, raised $2.1m in Series A funding.

Backers included Spark Capital and David Karp, founder and CEO of Tumblr.

Founded by MIT SENSEable City Laboratory Associate Director Assaf Biderman, who helped conceive and develop the acclaimed Copenhagen Wheel together with Carlo Ratti, the Lab’s director, Superpedestrian has just emerged from stealth to commercialize the patented wheel technology, which transforms standard bicycles into
hybrid e-bikes with integrated online platforms.
The company will introduce the product – including technical details and video demonstrations – in late November.
