Playdemic Raises Venture Capital Funding

Playdemic, a Manchester, UK-based social games developer, raised a venture capital funding from The North West Fund for Digital & Creative.

The amount of the investment (it followed a similar commitment by IBM heir David Watson) was not disclosed.

The company intends to use the funds to continue the development of the mobile version of Village Life and to support the launch of next major social game in early 2014.

Founded by CEO Paul Gouge, Playdemic operates the established Gourmet Ranch franchise. Its flagship game is Village Life, which since its launch in December 2012 has attracted 16 million players.

AXM Venture Capital manages The North West Fund for Digital & Creative, which is part of The North West Fund and is financed by the European Regional Development Fund and the European Investment Bank.
