Mode Analytics Secures $550K in Seed Funding

Mode Analytics, a San Francisco, CA-based developer of an online repository for data science work, secured $550k in seed funding.

The round was led by David Sacks (Yammer founder), with participation from other unnamed current and former Yammer executives.

The company intends to use the funds to continue to develop the product.

Led by CEO Derek Steer, who previously worked at Yammer as well, Mode is an online service for collaboratively analyzing data. It hosts a central repository of work and surfaces it to analysts in real time, allowing them to immediately address problems without needing to first recreate work.
The service will be available for individuals and teams to analyze their own data by uploading it to Mode’s cloud storage or connecting their own databases.
It will be free for anyone contributing to the open data community.
