Marine & Auto Security Solutions Raises over £115K in Equity Crowdfunding

Marine & Auto Security Solutions (MASS), a Portland, Dorset, UK-based developer of a ship anti-piracy system, raised over £115k in equity crowdfunding.

81 backers have acquired an 11.8% stake via Crowdcube.

The company intends to use the funds to build up stocks of Guardian in the Middle and Far East and market it internationally.

Invented by Teresa Stevens, Guardian is a “P” shaped plastic device which slots over the ship’s guard rails and takes minutes to fit. It makes it impossible for grappling hooks or roofing ladders to get a purchase on the rails because of the depth of the overhang. In tests, Royal Marines attempted to beat this anti-piracy barrier for two hours and failed.

The company is led by David Stevens.
