Chukong Technologies Raises $50M in Series D Funding

Chukong Technologies, a Beijing, China-based mobile entertainment company, raised $50m in Series D funding.

The round, which brought the total funding raised to date to $83m, was led by New Horizon Capital, with participation from existing investors GGV Capital, Sequoia Capital, Steamboat Ventures and Northern Light.

The company intends to use the funds to expand publishing and game engine development, R&D and marketing expense for a mobile entertainment platform.

Led by Haozhi Chen, CEO, Chukong Technologies is a game developer, international publishing partner and gaming community manager under the Coco and CocoaChina brands. The company has supported large mobile developers in entering the Chinese mobile market, as well as published popular mobile titles in China, such as the Fishing Joy franchise.
It also sponsors and manages Cocos2D-x, a widely used 2D game engine.
Chukong has additional operations in Tokyo, Seoul, Taipei, and Menlo Park, California.
