Breathometer Closes nearly $2M in Seed Funding

Breathometer, a Burlingame, CA-based developer of a device that measures the user’s blood alcohol level, closed nearly $2m in seed funding.

Investors included Structure Capital VC and Dillon Hill Capital and all five investors on the TV show Shark Tank (including Mark Cuban, Lori Greiner, Robert Herjavec, Daymond John, and Kevin O’Leary).

The company intends to use the funds to increase manufacturing of the device and bring it to market this Fall as well as to hire Matt Ackerman (CFO), Brian Sturdivant (VP of Marketing), Matt Sammons (VP of Sales) and Dave Bryand (VP of Software Engineering).

Founded by CEO Charles Michael Yim in September 2012, Breathometer Breathometer plugs into a smartphone audio jack, and together with a mobile app, becomes a portable and accurate breathalyzer measuring blood alcohol concentration (BAC).
Breathometer is currently available for pre-order at www.breathometer.com for $49.99 and will work on iOS and Android devices.
