Algolia Raises $1.5M in Seed Funding

Algolia, a Paris, France-based SaaS provider of a search API for developers, raised $1.5m in seed funding.

Backers included Index Ventures, Point Nine Capital and Alven Capital and business angels Producteev founder Ilan Abehassera and Fotolia founder Thibaud Elzière.

Founded in 2012 by Nicolas Dessaigne (CEO) and Julien Lemoine (CTO), Algolia provides developers with a solution to deliver real-time, typo-tolerant and location aware search in their applications and websites. They can set rules, with the ability to combine relevance with objects’ popularity.
Clients include Socialcam, among others.
