Twitch Raises $20M in Series C Funding

Twitch, a San Francisco, CA-based video platform and community for gamers, raised $20m in Series C funding.

The round was led by Thrive Capital with participation from WestSummit Capital and Take-Two Interactive Software, Inc. (NASDAQ:TTWO), as well existing investors Alsop Louie Partners and Bessemer Venture Partners.

The company intends to use the funds to continue scaling its sales division (the Twitch Media Group) and infrastructure and enhance its quality of service, and support and grow its partnership network with large game publishers and platforms.

Launched in June of 2011 and led by COO Kevin Lin, Twitch provides a video platform and community for casual gamers, pro players, tournaments, leagues, developers and gaming media organizations. More than 45 million gamers every month broadcast, watch and chat about gaming.
