Shyp Raises $250K in Seed Funding

Shyp, a San Francisco, CA-based provider of an app designed to shipping anything, raised $250k in seed funding.

Backers included:
Tim Ferriss (early-stage investor and advisor in companies including Twitter, Uber, Evernote, TaskRabbit, Facebook and Shopify)
David Marcus (Paypal President);
Hunter Walk and Satya Patel (Homebrew); and
Brian McClendon (Google Earth founder).

The company intends to use the funds to prepare for launch later this year, beginning in San Francisco.

Founded by Kevin Gibbon (CEO), Joshua Scott, and Jack Smith, Shyp provides an iPhone app for shipping items. It works by allowing users to take a photo of an item they want to send. Then a Shyp “Hero” (driver) arrives at home or office, take the unpacked item away to be professionally packed and shipped to their destination via a carrier (i.e., FedEx, UPS,or other regional carriers).
