Maker Studios Raises $26M in Second Tranche of Series C Funding

Maker Studios, a Culver City, Calif.-based YouTube multichannel network, raised $26m in the second tranche of its Series C venture capital funding.

Backers included Canal+, Astro and SingTel Innov8, as well as existing investors Time Warner Investments (which led the round), Upfront Ventures, Greycroft Partners and Downey Ventures.

The company intends to use the funds to grow its business globally and add more offices in Europe and Asia.

Founded in 2009 by Danny Zappin, CEO, Lisa Donovan, Scott Katz, Kassem Gharaibeh, Shay Carl Butler, Ben Donovan and Philip DeFranco, Maker Studios provides a platform for artists to create, distribute, and monetize their original content on YouTube.
