Clinkle Receives Investment from Sir Richard Branson

Clinkle Corporation, a San Francisco, CA-based stealth startup developing a mysterious payment platform, received an investment from Sir Richard Branson.

A few months ago, the company had raised $25m in seed funding. The amount of this investment was not disclosed.

Led by CEO Lucas Duplan, Clinkle plans to introduce its payment platform gradually during 2014. Two months ago, the company opened a college wait lists and over 100,000 people are now waiting the release of the service. According to a note, engagement at many schools across the United States started with Stanford University, University of Michigan, Duke University, Southern Methodist University and The University of Alabama among them.

No further details were released.
