Burner Raises $2M in Funding

Burner, a Los Angeles, CA-based provider of an app that gives consumers control of their personal data, raised $2m in funding.

The round was led by Founder Collective and Venrock, with participation from 500 Startups, David Cohen and TenOneTen. In conjunction with the funding, David Frankel of Founder Collective and Marissa Campise of Venrock will join Burner’s board.

Founded by CEO Greg Cohn and Will Carter, Burner allows consumers to create and manage multiple phone numbers for their voice and text communications. Completely redesigned for iOS 7, the app has been improved in texting, deeper address-book integration, and incorporation of intelligent number lookups.
It is also available for Android.

Ad Hoc Labs, the company behind Burner, is hiring.
