Patreon Raises $2.1M

Patreon, a Palo Alto, California-based funding platform for content creators, raised $2.1m in seed funding.

Backers included Tyler Willis, SVAngel, Freestyle Capital, Charles River Ventures, Alexis Ohanian, Garry Tan, Atlas Ventures, and Rothenberg Ventures.

The company intends to use the funds to develop its platform.

Launched in May 2013 by Jack Conte and Sam Yam, Patreon is a platform that allows content creators such as artists, YouTubers, photographers, musicians, authors, writers, etc. to set up pages for their work and get support from their fans. The community is currently comprised of over 2,000 creators.
