Ranker Closes $2M Funding

Ranker, a Los Angeles-based crowdsourced platform for consumers to view, rank, and vote on broad opinion-based topics, closed a $2m funding.

Backers included Lowercase Capital, BullPen Capital, Data Collective and existing investors Draper Associates, Rincon Venture Partners, Siemer Ventures, TenOneTen, Tech Coast Angels and Pasadena Angels.

The company intends to use the funds for hiring, platform expansion, and marketing.

Founded and seed funded by Clark Benson, Ranker aims to produce the best rankings humanly possible, using the thesis that the wisdom of crowds is better than any one person’s or expert’s opinion. To this end, it allows consumers to view, rank, and vote on a wide range of topics.
Launched in August of 2009, the platform has both entertaining and informative content.
