The amount of the funding was not disclosed. In conjunction with the transaction, Giorgio di Stefano, KeyCapital, will join CheckBonus’ board of directors.
The company intends to use the funds to continue to develop the app, which is expected to be launched in September 2013 on the Apple Store.
Led by CEO Pierluigi Casolari and CTO Yuri Ceschin, CheckBonus aims to generate traffic in-store via mobile by rewarding people for any check-in and allowing companies to communicate incentives and deals and monitor consumer behaviour in-store.
For Key Capital, a newly formed venture incubator focused on mobile startup, this represents the first investment.
