Whistle Raises $6M in Series A Funding

Whistle, a San Francisco, CA-based provider of a device that connects to a dog’s collar to measure key health indicators including activity and rest, raised $6m in Series A funding.

Backers include from DCM Ventures and other venture firms and executives across the pet, retail, and technology industries. In conjunction with the funding, DCM General Partner Jason Krikorian, Co-Founder of consumer electronics pioneer Sling Media, joined Whistle’s Board of Directors.

Co-founded by Ben Jacobs, CEO, and Steven Eidelman, Head of Product, Whistle provides a monitoring system that features a sleek, wireless device that attaches directly to a dog’s collar and a mobile application that allows pet owners to know when their dog is walking, playing or resting. Whistle provides recommendations to optimize the health of dogs based on breed, age and weight, alerting pet owners to key developments or changes in behavior, so they can share information with their vets.
The device, which can be ordered for $99.95 at www.whistle.com, will ship this summer.
