According to a post by founder Jim Gillian, NationBuilder, a Los Angeles, CA-based provider of a community organizing system, raised $8m in funding.
Backers included Omidyar Network and Andreessen Horowitz.
The company intends to use the funds to continue to grow.
Founded in November of 2009 by CEO Jim Gilliam, CEO, and launched in April of 2011, NationBuilder provides a software platform that allows leaders (nonprofits, government entities, political organizations and businesses) to grow and organize their communities and build lasting relationships with customers, supporters, and constituents.
It features websites, a people database and communication tools including email, text messaging and social media in one system.
