FundAmerica Raises $1.4M in Funding

FundAmerica, a San Francisco, CA-based provider of a platform for equity and debt crowdfunding and small business finance, raised $1.4m in funding.

A group of unnamed angel investors backed the company in the round.

The company, which was formerly known in its stealth mode as Arctic Island, is led by CEO Scott Purcell, who has raised more than $140m in venture funding for his prior ventures, which included OnAir Streaming Networks (acquired by Loudeye) and Epoch Networks.

FundAmerica will provide both a platform for the companies themselves, as well as a syndication engine for brokers and investment banks, along with tools for lawyers and accountants to advise on client offerings.
A white-label version of the platform will be available for broker-dealers and registered portals seeking to provide their own services underJOBS Act using FundAmerica technology.

The company had raised $200k in 2012 (read here).
