CustomMade Raises $18M in Funding

CustomMade, a Cambridge, MA-based online marketplace for original goods and creations, raised $18m in funding.

The round was led by Atlas Venture and existing investor Google Ventures, with participation from Schooner Capital, Next View Ventures, First Round Capital and Launch Capital. In conection with the financing, Fred Destin, a partner at Atlas Venture, and Rich Miner, a partner at Google Ventures, will join CustomMade’s board.

The company intends to use the capital to continue to expand operations.

Led by CEO Mike Salguero and President Seth Rosen, CustomMade is an online marketplace that connects buyers with professional makers of custom-designed furniture, jewelry and other products. It allows buyers to submit a photo or description and their preferred budget for what they’re looking to have made and makers to send a proposal to create the project. Buyers who look for inspiration can also browse Maker Portfolios and contact them directly.

The platform currently features a community of more than 12,000 makers and 100,000 buyers.
