Cortica Raises $6.4M in Series B Funding

Cortica, a NYC-based developer of visual search technology, raised $6.4M in Series B funding.

The round was led by Horizons Ventures, with participation from Mail.ru Group (which invested $1.5m earlier this month) and other angel investors.

The company intends to use the capital to scale its visual search platform and expand its commercial deployment with leading partners.

Founded in 2007 by Igal Raichelgauz, CEO, Karina Odinaev and Yehoshua (Josh) Y. Zeevi, Cortica has developed technology that simulates the brain’s neuro-circuits in order to recognize patterns and enable computers to understand images with the highest degree of accuracy. Once identified, the images turn into engaging units for search, advertising and e-commerce.
The company has R&D centers in Israel.
