OpenGeo Raises $3M Series A Funding from Vanedge Capital

OpenGeo, a Brooklyn, NY-based developer of an open source geospatial software platform, raised a $3m Series A funding from Vanedge Capital.

In conjunction with the funding, the company has spun out from OpenPlans, the incubator parent which founded it in 2002.

Led by Chris Holmes, founder, OpenGeo provides commercial open source geospatial software, which allows users to deploy solutions for web mapping, transportation, telecommunications, open government and others.

The company intends to use the funds to further enhance its product and training offerings as well as to increase adoption among customers.
