Change.org, a certified benefit corporation that operates a large petition platform, secured $15m in financing.
The round was led by Omidyar Network, which will take a minority stake in the company, with participation from Uprising. Chris Bishko, investment partner at Omidyar Network, will join Change.org’s Board of Directors in conjunction with the funding.
The corporation intends to use the funds to expand the platform internationally and develop new products.
Led by Founder and CEO Ben Rattray, Change.org is a certified B corporation, meaning it is held to high standards of social and environmental performance, accountability, and transparency set by B Labs, an independent certifying group. It has more than 35 million users, more than half of whom are now outside the United States.
