Tynker Raises $3.2M in Funding

Tynker, a Mountain View, CA-based computing platform designed to teach children computational thinking and programming skills, has launched with approximately $3.2m in funding.

Backers included New Enterprise Associates, 500 Startups, NewSchools Venture Fund, Felicis Ventures, GSV Advisors, Cervin Ventures, XG Ventures, and other angels.

Co-founded in 2012 by CEO Krishna Vedati, CTO Srinivas Mandyam, and Chief Architect Kelvin Chong, Tynker has just launched a cloud hosted platform that enables teachers of various backgrounds and experience levels to set up and teach STEM skills (science, technology, engineering and math) courses and children to learn Computer Science concepts through discovery, creative activities and experimentation.
The system offers classroom management, student assessment, and themed lesson plans for different grades.
