According to the company’s blog (read here) Screach.TV, a Newcastle Upon Tyne, UK-based startup that develops technology to make TVs and large screens interactive via mobile apps, raised $2.5m in funding.
Backers included Northstar Ventures, Hotspur Capital Partners and other unnamed strategic investors.
The company intends to use the funds to to accelerate the rollout of ScreachTV across pubs and bars around the UK and internationally.
Led by CEO Paul Rawlings, Screach.TV enables venue owners to offer personalized, interactive TV channel that engages with customers by turning screens from background noise into an entertainment instrument when there is nothing of interest to show on them, rewarding them with offers that keep in the venue longer and bring back.
The company has already deployed its technology in over 100 pubs from Newcastle to Exeter and is currently in talks to some content partners.
