Gengo Raises $12m Series B Funding

According to the company’s blog (read here), Gengo, a Tokyo, Japan-based online translation service, raised a $12m Series B funding.

The round was led by Intel Capital, with participation from Atomico, and Iris Capital, Infocomm, NTT-IP, and STCV (Saudi Telecom).

The company intends to use the capital to continue to develop the platform and continue to expand operations globally.

Led by Robert Laing, CEO, and Matthew Romaine, CTO and co-founder, Gengo provides a translation platform for global companies. Its API allows enterprise customers tointegrate professional-quality translation into their application. The company’s website also allows individuals and SMBs to order individual translations.
Over 7,500 qualified translators from across everywhere work on jobs through the Gengo platform, which currently powers leading e-commerce, online travel, and community portals.
