SwiftStack Raises $6.1M in Series A Funding

SwiftStack, a San Francisco, CA-based developer and provider of a software-defined storage (SDS) solution, raised $6.1m in a Series A funding.

The round, which brings the company’s total financing to date to $7.6m (including $1.5m in seed funding), was led by Mayfield Fund, with participation from Storm Ventures and UMC Capital.

The company intends to use the capital to grow the sales team, expand operations and advance development of its solution.

Founded in 2011 and led by Joe Arnold, CEO, SwiftStack is building a software-defined storage solution specifically for object storage. The platform decouples the management from the underlying storage infrastructure, enabling customers to build pools of storage on commodity hardware.
