Startup Labs, a global co-investment program for tech startups that focuses on emerging markets, teamed up with Wayra, the international startup seed fund and accelerator backed by Spanish telco company Telefónica.
Startup Labs, based in San Francisco, will be listening to Mexican startups’ pitches in Mexico City to help select the 10 Wayra teams and invest alongside the Mexican firm.
Wayra’s startups will also have access to Startup Labs’ global investment and training ecosystem and explore cross-border expansion opportunities.
For 2013, Startup Labs – which previously invested in Mexican startups such as Yaxi, InstaDM and Bandtastic, has plans to visit over 25 cities on four continents and invest in +125 startups around the world.
