Concurrent Raises $4M in Series A Funding

Concurrent, Inc., a San Francisco, CA-based enterprise Big Data application platform company, raised $4m in Series A funding.

The round was led by True Ventures and Rembrandt Venture Partners.

The company intends to use the capital for product development, and core team addition.

Led by newly appointed CEO Gary Nakamura, and Founder Chris Wensel, who will take on a new role as CTO, Concurrent provides a platform which simplifies Big Data application development, deployment and management on Apache Hadoop. The company’s Cascading, which is used and deployed for building Big Data applications, has more than 75,000 user downloads a month. Lingual executes ANSI SQL queries as Cascading applications on Apache Hadoop clusters.
Concurrent partners with technology leaders including, Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure, SpringSource, MapR, Greenplum, Karmasphere, Think Big Analytics and Scale Unlimited. Clients include The Climate Corporation, eBay, Etsy, FlightCaster, iCrossing, Razorfish, Trulia, TeleNav and Twitter, among others.
