Nexmo Closes $3M Funding

Nexmo, a San Francisco, CA- and London, UK-based provider of Communications APIs, closed a $3m round of funding.

The round was led by Intel Capital, with participation from NHN Investment Corporation and Initial Capital.

The company intends to use the funds to expand its suite of APIs in the cloud telecommunications space, and finalize its direct to carrier roll outs around the globe.

Founded in 2011 and led by Tony Jamous, CEO, Nexmo offers a cloud-based API that lets apps send and receive a high volume of mobile messages around the world, and at wholesale rates, enabling developers and enterprises to build scalable messaging applications in the cloud without any intermediation to reach the final carrier.
The company added over 70 carriers contracts in the last two years.
Clients include Airbnb, Viber and ICQ, among others.
