Coalfire Closes $3.6M Series B Venture Funding

Coalfire, a Louisville, Colorado-based independent IT governance, risk and compliance (IT GRC) firm, closed a $3.6m Series B venture funding.

Existing investor Baird Capital re-invested in the company, following a $5m Series A investment in February 2011 (read here).

Coalfire intends to use the funding to continue to grow in 2013 and beyond.

Founded in 2001 by Rick Dakin, CEO, and also led by Larry Jones, newly appointed executive chairman, the company is an IT Governance, Risk and Compliance (IT GRC) provider of IT audit, risk assessment and compliance management solutions.
With offices in Dallas, Denver, Los Angeles, New York, San Francisco, Seattle and Washington D.C., Coalfire completes thousands of projects annually in retail, financial services, healthcare, government and utilities. Solutions are adapted to requirements under emerging data privacy legislation, the PCI DSS, GLBA, FFIEC, HIPAA/HITECH, HITRUST, NERC CIP, Sarbanes-Oxley, FISMA and FedRAMP. .
It has nearly 130 employees and recently completed its first acquisition, Digital Resources Group.
