Spell Capital Partners Launches $120M Fund

Minneapolis, Minnesota-based Private equity and mezzanine capital firm Spell Capital Partners has launched a new $120m fund.

Formed with the addition of investment professionals Mark McDonald, Andrew Leonard and Stacy Harmsen. Spell Capital Mezzanine Partners will make subordinated debt and minority equity investments in lower middle market companies in a variety of industries across the United States. According to a written statement, it will target companies with $3 – 15m of EBITDA, high-quality management, diverse revenue streams, stable and growing end-market demand, defensible market positions and sustainable free cash flow.
The fund will back private equity sponsored buyouts, management and family-driven ownership transitions, acquisitions, recapitalizations and growth-related investments

Founded in 1988 and led by William Spell, President, has executed over 70 transactions in the lower middle market to date.
