Room 77 Closes $30.3M Series C Financing

Room 77, a Mountain View, CA-based hotel metasearch engine, has closed a $30.3m Series C financing.

Backers included new investor Expedia, Inc. (NASDAQ: EXPE), as well as existing investors Sutter Hill Ventures, General Catalyst Partners, Concur Technologies, Felicis Ventures as well as Expedia’s founder Rich Barton, former Expedia CEO Erik Blachford and Spencer Rascoff, CEO of Zillow.

The company intends to use the capital to grow its team, expand into new markets, increase investment in product, engineering and room-level content as well as to step up its marketing efforts.

Launched a year ago by Brad Gerstner, Chairman, and led by Kevin Fliess, COO, Room 77 combines comprehensive search technology with its service to help users to find hotel deals, searching hundreds of travel sites at once. In addition to the web site Room77.com, travelers can use the Room 77 hotel app for iPhone, available in the App Store, and for Android, available in Google Play.

In conjunction with the closing of this round, Jim White, managing director of Sutter Hill Ventures, has joined Room 77’s board of directors.
