Speek.com Raises $1.2M in Seed Funding

Speek.com, a Dulles, VA-based provider of conference calling solutions, has raised $1.2m in seed funding.

The round was jointly led by unnamed early-stage venture funds.

Founded by CEO John Bracken and CTO Danny Boice, Speek provides a free and visual conference platform that uses a personal link (i.e., http://speek.com/YourName), instead of a phone number and PIN for conference calls. Users, individuals and small businesses, click the link to start or join a call from their phone, web or mobile browser, via VOIP, or SMS, without downloading sotfware.
They can also see who has joined, who is talking, share files, use call controls, etc.

Launched in beta in June, Speek recently won Distilled Intelligence 2.0, the pitch competition created by Fortify.vc and sponsored by Microsoft, and was accepted into start-up accelerators 500 Startups and AOL’s Fishbowl Labs.

The company is currently hiring (http://www.jobscore.com/jobs/speek).
