Mangatar Wins Italian Startup of the Year Prize

Mangatar, a Salerno, Italy-based startup that operates a social game in the manga universe, won the €25k “Startup of the year” prize.

The company received the check for the ICT & Social Innovation section of the National Prize of Innovation (Premio Nazionale per l’Innovazione 2012 – PNI Cube) during an event that took place in Bari, Italy, on November 30th 2012.

Led by students from University of Salerno including Raffaele Gaito, Andrea Postiglione, Enrico Rossomando, Michele Criscuolo, and Alfredo Postiglione, Mangatar is developing a massive multiplayer card game where people can fight against each other. Players can give their mangatars unique identities, take a side, join a group, accomplish missions and improve their skills in a social way. The company showcased the game at TechCrunch Italy in September 2012.
