Cinemagram Raises $8.5M in Funding

Cinemagram, a San Francisco, CA-based mobile app that allows users to animate photos, has raised $8.5m in funding.

The round was led by Menlo Ventures, with participation from Atlas Venture, Khosla Ventures and Real Ventures. In conjunction with the funding, Shervin Pishevar from Menlo Ventures is joining Cinemagram’s board.

The company intends to use the funding for technological development and user base building.

Co-founded by Temo Chalasani, Cinemagram operates an app that operates as a cinemagraph generator to create short hybrid photo-videos.  Founded in Montreal, Canada, the company is now moving to San Francisco and hiring developers (read here).
