Platfora Closes $20M Series B Funding

Platfora, a San Mateo, CA-based in-memory business intelligence (BI) platform for Hadoop and Big Data, closed a $20m Series B funding.

The round was led by Battery Ventures with participation from existing investors Andreessen Horowitz, Sutter Hill Ventures and In-Q-Tel.

In conjunction with the funding, Roger Lee, general partner at Battery Ventures, has joined the Platfora Board of Directors.

The company intends to use the capital to expand sales and marketing organizations in the US and globally, and continue to build out its product engineering and design team in San Mateo, CA (http://www.platfora.com/careers/).

Led by Ben Werther, CEO and founder, Platfora transforms raw data in Hadoop into an interactive, exploratory business intelligence and analytics platform designed for business analysts.
It uses HTML5 canvas technology, enabling collaborative data analysis across any device or platform.
