HapYak.com Raises $850K in Seed Funding

HapYak.com, a Waltham, MA-based social video commentary platform, has raised $850k in seed funding.

The round was led by Kepha Partners with participation from CommonAngels of Boston and angel investor Tom Burgess, former CEO of Third Screen Media.

The company intends to use the funding to expand and build upon its platform.

Founded by Kyle Morton, HapYak enables people to experience videos on the web with remarks, insights, opinions of the people they’re sharing with. It invites users to create drawings, record narration and add comments directly to any video from YouTube, Vimeo and other popular services. Users can “follow” each other, rate commentary and define exactly who can see what they have created, which makes it ideal for building a community as well as private sharing and collaboration.
