According to local reports (read here), Riidr, a Copenhagen, Denmark-based provider of a publishing platform for ebook readers, mobile apps and the web. has received an investment from media group Schibsted.
The amount of the funding was not disclosed but it is known that Schibsted acquired a 10% stake in the company.
Riidr intends to use the capital to expand its commercialization efforts.
Founded in 2010 by CEO Anders Breinholst, Riidr provides a platform that is designed to help authors and publishers distribute their ebooks and readers purchase and read their ebooks. It allows readers to purchase books, save them in Riidr’s cloud library and read through its apps or webreader. Features include bookmarks, last read locations and other annotations. The company is developing add-ons and is focusing on the social reader, which makes it possible to share experiences and insights while reading.
