MyCare Raises $750K in Funding

MyCare Inc. (dba SAMI Health), a Westport, Conn.-based healthcare information technology company, has raised an additional $750k in funding.

Backers include Connecticut Innovations (CI), which has made a $375k follow-on investment through its Seed Investment Fund, and Intersection Health Partners. Earlier in 2012, CI made its $500k first investment in the company (read here).

SAMI Health intends to use these new proceeds to expand around the country.

Led by Matt Walton, CEO and co-founder, the company is developing information solutions for hospitals and other healthcare institutions. Its initial product, Smart Access to Medical Information (SAMI™), is a proprietary search engine tool that allows nurses, doctors, patients and their families to access patient medical information residing in any electronic medical record (EMR) system, and analyze that data in near real-time. It includes Real-time Core Measurement Compliance, Clinical Decision Support, Personalized Genomic Medicine, and Patient-Family Portal, and integrates with virtually all EMR systems.

The product has already been deployed at Bridgeport Hospital and is under evaluation by Yale New Haven Health System. In response to feedback from clinical users, and patients and their families, the company is developing additional modules.
