Mobiplex Raises $3.1M in Series A Funding

Mobiplex, a Santa Clara, CA-based developer of mobile sports performance technology based on miniature wireless sensors and mobile device apps, has raised $3.1m in Series A funding.

Backers include a group of unnamed private investors.

The company intends to use the capital to accelerate global sales growth and product innovation for its platform. In September 2012, Mobiplex launched its first product, the SwingTIP Golf Swing Analyzer, a Bluetooth-enabled 3D motion sensor unit that clips onto a golf club to capture, analyze and reproduce a golf swing in three dimensions. It aims to help golfers improve their swing by sending real-time visual and performance data to an Apple iOS (iPhone, iPod Touch, iPad) or Android device, as well as to the MySwingTIP.com personal performance tracking website.
Founded in 2010 by Vijay Nadkarni, CEO, the company sells its products (SwingTIP on SwingTIP.com) via sales and distribution partners including Amazon, Butler Golf, Dr. Bott, Golf Galaxy, MKRAK Management, PlayBetterGolf.com and SmartHome.com.
