Libboo Raises $1.1M in Seed Funding

Libboo, a Boston, MA-based publishing startup, has raised $1.1m in seed funding.

The round was led by Boston-based MassVentures, with participation from Hubspot CTO and founder Dharmesh Shah, Avid and Wildfire founder Bill Warner, and past President and CEO of Compete Don McLagan.

The company intends to use the funding to grow its team, specifically in engineering, operations, and business development.

Led by CEO Chris Howard, Libboo operates an online platform that allows readers and advocates to raise awareness about the books and authors they enjoy to get them discovered by new audiences. Readers get rewards such as free ebooks, and increase their influence by sharing writing with friends and followers via social media, email, and other online channels. Last week, the company launched its pilot program with publishing house Houghton Mifflin Harcourt (HMH).
