Lanica Receives Funding from Appcelerator Innovation Fund

Lanica, a Mountain View, California-based mobile gaming platform company, is the first startup to be selected by and to receive funding from the just launched Appcelerator Innovation Fund (read here).

The company intends to use the capital to further develop and launch the platform in December 2012. It will also receive field expertise, access to facilities, financial guidance, legal counsel, marketing resources, engineering and sales channel support.

Founded in June 2012 by CEO Carlos Icaza and Kota Iguchi, Lanica is building a platform – based on Appcelerator Titanium and Appcelerator Cloud Service (ACS) – which will enable Appcelerator’s 350,000+ registered developers to create new mobile games. It provides a full physics engine based on Box2D, an isometric engine, particle effects, shaders, image filters, an advanced rendering pipeline built from scratch, etc.
