ByteLight Raises $1.25M in Funding

ByteLight, a Cambridge, MA-based company that develops light-emitting diode (LED)-based indoor positioning technology, has raised $1.25m in funding.

The round was led by VantagePoint Capital Partners, with participation from other individual and institutional investors.

The company intends to use the capital to build its team (http://www.bytelight.com/jobs.html), deploy at pilot locations and expand its ecosystem of partners.

Co-founded by CEO Aaron Ganick and CTO Dan Ryan, ByteLight provides a LED-based indoor positioning solution that allows commercial and enterprise building owners, public safety officials, retail outlets and public spaces such as airports, museums and convention centers to target customized information, special offers and other data directly to users, based on their precise location inside a building.
To bring its technology to market, the company is partnering with LED lighting manufacturers who incorporate its technology directly into their lighting products.
