Tenable Network Security Raises $50M from Accel Partners

Tenable Network Security, Inc., a Columbia, MD-based provider of software that identifies network security gaps before they are exploited by attackers, has raised $50m in first funding from Accel Partners.

The company intends to use the capital to accelerate technology innovation and global expansion.

Led by Ron Gula, CEO, Tenable provides businesses of all sizes, governments and universities with products to manage network threats.
Its SecurityCenter combines essential active and innovative passive vulnerability scanning, real-time network monitoring, and configuration and compliance management. Nessus is a vulnerability scanner providing deep database of known vulnerabilities and compliance risks.
The two products are used by security professionals and compliance auditors at 15,000 organizations worldwide, including the entire U.S. Department of Defense, financial services, tech, telecom, media, healthcare, and energy companies, universities, and retailers.

In conjunction with the funding, Ping Li, General Partner at Accel, will join Tenable’s board of directors.
