Dnevnik.ru Receives $5M in Funding from Runa Capital

Dnevnik.ru, a St. Petersburg, Russia-based online educational platform, has received $5m in funding from Runa Capital.

The company intends to use the funding to expand the platform globally. It plans to launch local versions in Israel, Hungary, Poland, China and the US.

Launched in 2009 and led by Gavriil Levi, CEO, Dnevnik.ru combines a learning management system, school document flow management and a social network. Users get access to the electronic class-book, electronic grade books of students, hybrid library, educational literature library and on-line training of the unified state exam, as well as get the possibility to pass entrance exams to the major higher educational institutions of Russia.
It serves over 21,000 schools and 4 million users in Russia and almost 10,000 schools and 1 million users in Ukraine.
The company has representative offices in Moscow, Kiev, Bashkortostan, Volgograd, Astrakhan, Nizhny Novgorod, Chelyabinsk and Yekaterinburg regions, Khabarovsk Territory and Dagestan.
