Blue River Technology, a Sunnyvale, CA-based developer of computer vision and robotics for agriculture, has raised $3.1m in Series A funding.
The round was led by Khosla Ventures, with participation from Steve Blank, Ulu Ventures, and Stanford Angels and Entrepreneurs.
The company intends to use the funding to grow its engineering team and accelerate its new product roadmap
Founded in 2011 by Jorge Heraud, CEO, and Lee Redden, CTO, Blue River Technology is developing computer vision techniques for identifying weeds and selectively killing unwanted plants. Its automated solution is well-suited to organic agriculture and for fields with chemical-resistant weeds.
In conjunction with the funding, Ryan Kottenstette of Khosla Ventures has joined the company’s board of directors.
