SmartAsset Raises $900K in Seed Funding

SmartAsset, a New York City-based provider of a personal finance platform, has raised $900k in seed funding.

Backers include Y Combinator, Quotidian Ventures, and New York and Silicon Valley-based angels.

Founded in 2011 by CTO Philip Camilleri and Michael Carvin, CEO, and launched on July 24, 2012, SmartAsset aims to help people make better financial decisions through personalized information and recommendations. Already used by over 14,000 people across all 50 states, the platform will start with home buying analysis and expand to over 24 other life-changing financial decisions, such as whether to go back to school or when to retire.
