Nutanix Raises $33M in Series C Funding

Nutanix, a San Jose, California-based provider of software-defined storage wrapped in off-the-shelf x86 servers, has raised $33m in Series C funding.

Backers include existing investors Lightspeed Venture Partners and Khosla Ventures, and new investors Battery Ventures and Goldman Sachs.

The company intends to use the capital to expand sales, marketing, support, and R&D efforts.

Founded in December 2009 by Dheeraj Pandey, CEO, and Mohit Aron, CTO, Nutanix offers a simple compute and storage infrastructure for implementing enterprise-class virtualization without complex and expensive external network storage (SAN or NAS).
The company has customers in US federal, technology, advertising, healthcare, and higher education sectors.
