ClassDojo Raises $1.6M in Seed Funding

ClassDojo, a San Francisco, Calif.-based education startup, has raised $1.6m in seed funding.

Backers include Paul Graham, Ron Conway, Jeff Clavier, General Catalyst, the Start Fund, Kapor Capital, NewSchools Venture Fund, Lerer Ventures, Morado Ventures, Learn Capital, Joe Greenstein, Matt Ocko, Jason Citron, Roger Dickey, Tabreez Verjee, and David Jeske.

Co-founded by Sam Chaudhary and Liam Don, ClassDojo offers a free digital character building and behavior management service for teachers who wants to manage student behavior using game mechanics. With the service, which has just launched out of beta, teachers can build specific positive learning behaviors with their students and grow essential character strengths, such as persistence, creativity, curiosity, self-control and leadership.
ClassDojo has already been used by 3.5m teachers and students across 30 countries.
