NuoDB Closes $10M Series B Funding

NuoDB, a Cambridge, MA-based provider of database software for the cloud, has closed a $10m Series B funding.

The round was led by Morgenthaler Ventures with participation from existing investors Hummer Winblad Venture Partners and Longworth Venture Partners.

The company intends to use the funding to develop its disruptive cloud database software as well as to expand its sales and marketing efforts.

In conjunction with the funding, Morgenthaler Ventures partner Gary Morgenthaler has joined NuoDB’s board of directors.

Founded in 2010 by database architect and innovator Jim Starkey and enterprise software CEO Barry Morris, NuoDB provides software specifically architected to scale on the cloud without compromising the benefits of SQL and ACID-based relational databases. It is currently in Beta and will become generally available in Q3 2012.
